Looking back at 2010: Living on the road for 9 days

Imagine living and sleeping in your car for 9 days on a highway, without moving. This happened in China during August 2010. The traffic on the Beijing-Tibet (National Express 110) highway came to a gird lock due to road construction, breakdown and excessive traffic. The next 9 days the traffic jam extended to 100 km (62 miles) and the travelers had to spend their days on the road without any relief in sight. The locals used this moment to gouge the price of food, water and basic amenities. On the 10th day the traffic miraculously returned to normalcy! How can that be?
