It is what your doctor ordered - Active lifestyle!
It
is that time of the year again - holidays and festivities ! The
festivity which begins with Halloween candies (Diwali treats), culminates
with a New Year cake! Studies have found that due to sugary treats,
gourmet-style meals and sugary drinks, people gain weight from 1lb
to 7lb during this season. If you think these excess pounds will
meltaway when Spring begins then you are in for a surprise. A recent
study has found that your excess weight manages to stay with you.
This means, every year you may be unconsciously adding excess weight
without your knowledge.
Is there a recourse? Sure, there is.
It is what your doctor ordered - follow an Active Lifestyle! Is
it easily said than done?
The biggest challenge for any one is
to find that 'sweet spot to exercise amidst their daily demands.
In this always connected, globalized world the distinction between
work and life is gone. Work and life cannot be separated any more.
Your work follows you every where - your home, your commute, your
dinner, your vacation. You name it, the work follows there. So,
where is the time for a physical activity? Your fitness instructor
expects you to spend at least 45 to 60 minutes per day in a gym.
You try to meet this goal for couple of days or weeks and then give
up. You will be surprised to know that the real solution to this
problem is available in historic documents especially from world
war period. You cannot expect the soldiers to find 45 to 60 minutes
every day to keep themselves fit. They are already preoccupied with
the war almost 24 hours. Moreover there are no gyms or expensive
exercise equipment to stay fit. How did they manage? A classic record
is the Royal Canadian Air Force documentation which recommends the
soldiers as how to stay fit with minimal time and no equipments.
According to this recommendation, in order to stay fit, it needs
only 5 exercise and 13 minutes for men (5BX
Plan) and 11 exercise and 12 minutes for women (XBX
Plan). If you still think it is difficult to find 13 minutes
then there is a 7 minute work out plan (HICT
Plan) recommended by American College of Sports Medicine's Health
& Fitness Journal which you
can follow to stay fit. On the other hand, it you have more time,
you can try out the 45 day
beginners plan or 30 day HIIT (High
Intensity Instruction Training) plan. Keep in mind, these recommendations
will not make you one of the best body builders but can definitely
help you stay fit for a long time.
