Nelson Mandela was born into
the royal Thembu family and his maiden name "Rolihlahla"
meant "trouble"! The name 'Nelson' was christened
by his teacher to have an easy English pronouncing name.
He belonged to the clan Madiba and hence he was called
"Madiba" out of respect. His father had 4
wives and he died when Mandela was 9 years old. Mandela
himself was married 3 times during his life!
