A much hyped movie for this year
made with a big budget ($17 million). A different story line
but you can pretty much predict the happenings. The documentary
style introduction does not help in entertaining. Not a must
watch but you can watch if you are looking to spend around
2 and a half hours.
Rating:***
[3 Stars out of 5]
Theme: Sci-fi thriller based on Bodhidharma's
history.
Audience: PG13 (Age 13+) - Some violence
and questionable costume selection in songs
Plus:
* Bodhidharma's costume.
* Johnny Tri Nguyen's portrayal as villian.
* Creates some awareness about Bodhidharma's history and India's
treasures.
Minus:
* Genetic mapping, Gene awakening - Hmmm.. looks like it is
targeting well educated audience. Common audience will never
understand the ballyhoos in the movie.
* Has educational value but lacks entertainment value.
* Shruti Hassan, Harris Jeyaraj, Suriya ... Where are they?
Only Johnny Tri Nguyen remain in your mind.
* Screenplay lacks novelty.
* Story path jumps from Bodhidharman's history to gene mapping
to epidemic creation to gene awakening ---- Does the story
has to be so complicated? Looks like the team overcomplicated
the story. Hope they keep it easy next time.
